  22. This is a little odd.  What makes you think they are temp files?
  23. What is the current directory when you start the kermit session?
  24. I would look at two things, from a kermit prompt:
  25.     show file
  26. look for the "File download-directory: (none)" text.
  27. Perhaps the download directory is being set, or it is going to your /var
  28. directory directly, or some pathname is not correct during a transfer.
  29.     show variables
  30. Look for the lines that reference any directory.  Note where
  31.  \v(tmpdir) = /tmp/ is pointing.  Perhaps it has been set to null,
  32. thus pointing to the current working directory.

  34. And perhaps you should "log transactions" which gives file transfer
  35. information.  I don't know if that has enough detail to show what's
  36. happening in /var.
